Call for Papers (Post-Conference Monograph)

After a very successful conference on Computer-Mediated Communication and Social Media Corpora in Bolzano, Italy in October 2017 (cmccorpora17) we are preparing a post-conference monograph to be published by Clermont Auvergne University Publishing House, France in the fall of 2018 as part of their Linguistics collection Cahiers du Laboratoire de Recherche sur le Langage. An open-access version will also be made available.

We invite unpublished original work focusing on the collection, analysis and processing of computer-mediated communication, such as exchanges on social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), forum posts, news comments, wiki discussions and blog entries as well as e-mail, SMS, WhatsApp, YouTube and discussions in multimodal environments. Authors who did not present at the conference are also welcome.

Submission format

The foreseen length of book chapters is 8,000 words.

Submission procedure

Submissions should be sent by email to linguistics@eurac.edu.
Submissions will be reviewed by two reviewers.

Cancelled Talk

Unfortunately, the talk “Reliable Part-of-Speech Tagging of Low-frequency Phenomena in the Social Media” by Tobias Horsmann, Michael Beißwenger and Torsten Zesch had to be cancelled (Day 1, 15:00-15:30).

The “Book Launch” (Day 2, 08:45-09:00) was moved into this spot, i.e. Day 2 will start at 9:00.

We have an exciting and full programme of presentations, posters and a workshop for cmc-corpora17. The final programme, as it will appear in the proceedings handbook, is now online.

If there are any changes or cancellations they will be communicated in our news thread and during the conference itself.

For all presenters and poster authors, please do not forget to register for the conference and CLARIN UI event at this link before September 25th 2017. On-site registration will be available for additional 15 EUR.

By now, you should have already received the comments by the reviewers in an e-mail. Please take them carefully into account.

Papers

The paper will be published in the online proceedings. The paper is due on August 21st.

You should submit your non-anonymised, camera-ready paper using your EasyChair proceedings author role for cmc-corpora 2017.

The page limit is 4 pages + up to 2 pages (annexes + references), and all submissions must follow the template.

Posters

The dimensions of your poster can be up to DIN A0 format (841 × 1189 millimeters or 33.11 × 46.81 inches) in portrait orientation.

An extended abstract will be published in the online proceedings. The extended abstract is due on August 21st.

You should submit your non-anonymised, camera-ready extended abstract using your EasyChair proceedings author role for cmc-corpora 2017.

The limit is 15-20 lines of abstract text (roughly around 500 words), and optionally the rest of the page for references. All in all, your extended abstract and the references must not exceed a single page. Use the Abstract text field (the top text field that spans both columns) of the template for your text and the two columns format for your optional references.
